The inner child in Ho’oponopono can be thought of as the subconscious mind or “Unihipili”, this part of ourselves is more primitive but very powerful, and can be influenced by words, music, ceremony, rituals, habits, etc. Indeed it needs to be influenced because although it is very powerful its logic is very basic and needs the love and guidance from the conscious mind to clean things, heal and have enough energy to send to the high self or “Aumakua” so your prayers can be heard.

Your inner child can have a name and a gender if you feel inspired to do that, and it can help you to talk to her or him more closely and with affection. Talk to her like a child, and negotiate with her from the same perspective, as if you were talking to a child and are explaining things the more easily and clearly possible.

You may notice that your inner child has beliefs, and these beliefs determine your reality, that’s why is so important to connect with the inner child so we can help her to clean all the negative or limiting beliefs that are affecting all our world. If you have a good relationship with your inner child this can help you to clean any data or experiences in your conscious reality.

How to connect with the Inner Child?

If you are having issues with health – finances – relationships – spirituality – or any problem you can think of, connecting to your Inner child can be the best way to heal the source data within yourself. The inner child or “Unihipili” likes security, likes to know what is going to be part of the day so it likes routines, habits, and repetition.

Here you have a list of thing that your Inner Child would like you to do:

  • Do some exercise, especially something relaxing like yoga or Qi Gong.
  • Eat healthily and at the same hours.
  • Take a walk
  • Go to places with nature.
  • Take a massage
  • Take a break to stop thinking so much and enter into silence.
  • Meditation
  • Positive Visualization
  • Play and Laugh

A Special Exercise: Lay on your right side, then caress your left arm, take your time, caress yourself as if you were someone else loving you, comforting you. The right side represents the conscious mind (you) and the left one the Unihipili or Inner Child, so caress and pamper your inner child, use the Four Phrases of Ho’oponopono “I love you, I’m sorry, Please Forgive Me, Thank You” and you can add the following “Trust me, I’m going to take care of you always” and mean it.

This will strengthen your inner child, will give her confidence, self-esteem, and will relief the anxieties, fears, and tensions.
