Reiki is an ancient and profoundly simple system of “laying on of hands” healing derived from Tibetan Buddhism. Reiki provides many health benefits to those who come to these healing therapies. Among them, the body feels better because it improves metabolism, helps to recover faster from ailments, allows you to reflect and reach a state of personal growth and expansion, facilitates relaxation, reduces stress, and even listening to Reiki music can help with emotional problems.
In the West, Reiki has been kept highly secret for many years. ESSENTIAL Reiki presents full information on all three degrees of this healing system, most of it in print for the first time. Teaching from the perspective that Reiki healing belongs to all people, Diane Stein breaks new ground in her classic guide to this ancient practice. While no book can replace the directly received Reiki “attunements,” ESSENTIAL Reiki provides everything else that the healer, practitioner, and teacher of this system needs.
This is a book I would suggest for anyone to read who’s interested in Reiki, it’s one of the first times that someone published the Reiki symbols which some people think should stay secret and Dianne Stein disagrees (like me) she believes that Reiki is for everyone and since Reiki can do no harm, just looking at the symbols won’t do any harm.
Either one of the downsides to this is if you’re put off by other religions that are non-christian you might not like her approach to Reiki but like I said before Reiki is not associated with any particular religion and anyone of any faith can practice Reiki and it doesn’t go against their particular religion.
Dianne Stein I believe is Wiccan and she also discusses spirit guides and alien origins of Reiki and some people disagree with that, and that’s fine. She’s also fine with that, she’s just sharing what she actually believes, and then she leaves it open for your interpretation I wouldn’t let that stop you from reading this book if you’re Christian or another religion because it has some really great information in it.
I want to share a quote with you from Diane Stein she has dealt a lot with Reiki snobs especially back in the day people who were denying Reiki training to other people or criticizing others for the kind of Reiki they were practicing, that doesn’t happen so much today, but there are still people out there who are afraid and holding on to the Reiki information, so she says on page 95 “such attitudes are certainly against any healers ethic and they certainly are not Reiki either the fact is that the simple Reiki attunement can make a beginner until a qualified healer with an afternoon’s class healers are terribly needed so true and the more healers who can be offered to the planet the better everyone is in pain in these earth change days and the earth is in pain”.
And then later she also writes it is not moral to keep any healing system in these times exclusive and no method is better or more Reiki than any other and that’s why i really suggest this book to anyone who’s curious about Reiki or wants to become a Reiki practitioner, it’s a great beginners book and well it’s a great book for any level of Reiki for sure.
